 When travelling from Pretoria Please note that there are road works taking place around Bethal, on the road to Ermelo and between Piet Retief and Pongola. Allow for extra traveling time for these stop and go’s. Should you wish to avoid the Piet Retief/Pongola road works, there is an alternative route through Swaziland on a new tar road which is comparable in distance. This road takes you to the Golela Border post and Shayamoya is then 8km into South Africa. Note: There is a chance of waiting at the border post especially over the long weekends. Ensure you have your vehicle registration papers, no fire-arms, and a valid passport. Should you not have a SA passport, please enquire about Visas.
Directions: When traveling through Piet
Retief, as you are about to leave town, on your left is a Toyota Car Dealership,
there is a small green sign saying "Mahamba" turn left here directly after
Toyota and continue for about 30km until you reach Mahamba border post. An hour
later, you will reach Lavumisa/Golela Border Post. Travel 8km, you will now be heading up a
hill, at the top of the hill on your right is the Shayamoya entrance.
